Hello, I’m Charles Simpson Sr.

Marketing systems should make the work clearer—not more complicated.

I’m a senior Marketing Operations and MarTech professional who helps turn business needs into practical systems people can rely on.

My strongest proof point is HubSpot, but my work goes beyond one platform: CRM structure, automation, data processes, integrations, reporting, and the documentation that keeps it all usable over time.

I like getting underneath the surface of a problem, understanding what is creating friction, and building a path that makes sense for both the business and the people doing the work.

Systems, Not Just Software

Tools matter, but the bigger question is whether the system supports the way a business actually needs to operate.

I connect requirements, process, data, and technology so CRM and marketing systems are structured with a purpose—not simply configured and left behind.

Curious by Design

I enjoy learning how things work and finding better ways to make them work together. That has taken me from enterprise IT into CRM ownership, MarTech implementation, AI-enabled workflows, and AI-assisted application building.

The common thread is practical problem-solving: build something useful, test it, document it, and make it easier to maintain.

HOW I WORK

GOOD SYSTEMS SHOULD MAKE THE NEXT RIGHT STEP EASIER.

I do not start with a tool or a feature. I start with the business need: what needs to happen, who needs to use the system, what information matters, and where the current process is creating friction.

From there, I help shape a practical approach that connects CRM structure, automation, data, integrations, reporting, and documentation. The goal is not complexity for its own sake. It is a system that is clear, reliable, and easier to improve over time.

I am most effective where strategy needs to become real, usable implementation—especially when requirements, dependencies, and the day-to-day reality of the work all need to be considered together.

WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE

BUILD FOR THE REALITY OF THE WORK.

Every project has its own constraints, but the questions stay consistent:

Is the data structured in a way people can trust?

Does the process match how the team actually works?

Will the system still make sense when someone needs to update it later?

Sometimes that means clarifying CRM relationships and pipeline logic. Other times, it means improving automation, working through an integration dependency, organizing documentation, or creating a more reliable way to report on what is happening.

I also use AI-enabled workflows where they genuinely help—such as reusable prompt and reference systems that make research, documentation, quality checks, and repeatable work more consistent. The same principle applies: useful, tested, and grounded in the real need.

WHAT I BRING TO THE WORK

START WITH THE PEOPLE USING IT.

A system can look perfect on paper and still fail in practice. I pay attention to how people actually work, what they need from the system, and where unnecessary friction gets in the way.

TURN THE NEED INTO A SYSTEM.

I like taking a business requirement and working through what it means for CRM structure, automation, integrations, data, reporting, and the processes around them.

MAKE THE DATA USEFUL.

Good reporting starts long before the dashboard. I think about how information is captured, structured, connected, and maintained so people can actually trust what they are looking at.

BUILD IT TO LAST.

The goal is not just to get something working. I want the logic to be understandable, documented, maintainable, and easier for the next person to work with.

Where I’ve Made an Impact

Southworth Clubs

HubSpot CRM Administrator

Jan 2024 – Jan 2026

At Southworth Clubs, I served as the sole HubSpot CRM Administrator, tasked with architecting, optimizing, and maintaining the systems that supported Membership Sales, Marketing, and Executive Leadership. I led strategy and execution for lead flow, pipeline management, data hygiene, tagging conventions, and campaign attribution, ensuring consistent pipeline visibility and dependable insights for cross-department stakeholders. By designing and refining workflow automation, I streamlined membership acquisition, follow-up, and engagement processes — reducing manual effort and improving responsiveness. I developed and managed complex integrations, including API-based solutions and custom coded workflow actions, which strengthened internal technical capability and eliminated recurring external dependencies. I also led the adoption of LLM-assisted systems workflows to translate nuanced business requirements into structured logic that improved automation accuracy and maintainability. Alongside CRM strategy, I built intuitive dashboards to improve visibility into pipeline health and engagement trends, empowering leadership with actionable reporting. I additionally supported WordPress and related digital systems as part of integrated engagement flows.

I applied analytical insight to refine email marketing and content strategies, enhancing engagement and relevance for targeted audiences. I pioneered integrated marketing approaches across social media, CRM, email, and web channels to align campaigns with broader brand objectives. My work also included automating email campaigns and establishing standardized project workflows to enhance cross-team collaboration and execution. I led the revamp of editorial processes for industry reports, boosting quality and efficiency in content delivery.

Mar 2022 – Aug 2022

At Hot Dog Marketing, I directed HubSpot operations for internal teams and client engagements as part of a Platinum HubSpot solutions partner. I conducted detailed portal audits and implemented standards for data hygiene and compliance, coordinated integration strategies across platforms using Zapier, API/webhooks, and supported WordPress and SaaS integrations. I led discovery sessions with clients to define operational needs and architect tailored implementations that improved CRM adoption and effectiveness. I also developed structured training resources that strengthened client proficiency with HubSpot best practices, and partnered with content marketers to implement lifecycle marketing strategies with a focus on sales enablement and RevOps alignment.

HubSpot Automation Manager

Dec 2020 – Mar 2022

In this role, I served as the primary HubSpot expert for onboarding, CRM migrations, and automation strategy for both internal teams and clients. I owned digital onboarding processes — coordinating access across Google, social media, domain/web hosting, and SaaS platforms — and built internal documentation and standardized methodologies that supported continuity and team efficiency. My contributions were recognized with the 2021 Core Values Award for “Awesomeness” for operational excellence and systems leadership.

Marketing operations isn't a nice-to-have. It's what connects strategy to outcomes. I build the systems, automation, and processes that make that happen at scale. Let's connect.
